These earrings were hand-cut with a scissors.
I wanted to make a pair of earrings that didn’t need to be cut using my Cricut. And it turns out, I can cut straight lines, but I’m terrible at curves or anything else with a scissors.
Supplies and Tools:
- Earring Material – I used cork fabric and leather.
- Earring Hooks (lots of kits are available online or at craft stores) this is what I have.
- Scissors or a straight edge and blade (exacto knife).
- Small Hole Punch
Steps:
- I cut two triangles in the same size out of cork fabric paper.
- Offsetting the two cork triangles, I glued them together.
- Then I cut a smaller triangle out of brown leather and glued that on top. Aligning the top triangle inside the top cork triangle.
- Everything was put together using fabric glue.
- I used a small paper punch to make a hole at the top of one of the cork triangles. This was to feed my earring hardware through.
- I added a couple of jump rings and an earring hook.
- I have some new earrings! (If you’re interested, you could have some new earrings, drop a comment if you like.)
These earrings are so light weight and versatile, they can go with so many different outfits. You can dress them up or dress them down.
I originally made these earrings without the brown leather triangle. I thought the cork earrings were cute. However, I feel like the brown leather triangle made them feel more finished and more complete. What do you think?
